As a follow up to “Inside the World of the PAP Internet Brigade” (http://sporehallofshame.blogspot.com/2012/11/inside-world-of-pap-internet-brigade.html), this article will as promised, provide insights into the people behind the “My Compass” Facebook Group.
Jason Chua Chin Seng
Let us begin with My Compass’s main man, Jason Chua Chin Seng. Those that follow the news from the Straits Times and Mediacorp will naturally find this name familiar.
When not busy directing the actions at the secret facebook group “My Compass”, Jason operates the moderately popular Facebook Page, "Fabrications About the PAP" (www.facebook.com/FabricationsAboutThePAP); a page he started in August 2011. A former software engineer who probably left his job to work full-time for the PAP, Jason is perpetually online on a daily basis; seeking out opportunities to defend the party he is so loyal to.
Apart from "My Compass" and "Fabrications About the PAP", he also runs Facebook pages "Let's Discuss Politics" (www.facebook.com/LetsDiscussPolitics) and "I Cannot Take it" (https://www.facebook.com/IcannotTakeIt).
Despite his shameless curry favouring, he once claimed in a media interview that he does not belong to any political party. As all 4 Facebook pages are however blatantly pro-PAP, I wonder what were the reporters thinking when they quoted him. As my previous article demonstrated (http://sporehallofshame.blogspot.com/2012/11/smu-handa-centres-links-with-japanese.html), there are times that MSM short-change their readers by not practicing due diligent in their reporting.
As explore deeper, more skeletons emerge from Jason’s closet.
Jason owns a website “degree4usa.net” which was once flagged by malicious software trackers as a dangerous page. The website is supposed to help users choose the American University that would suit their educational needs. Dangerous site aside, this service he is providing is highly dubious. I simple google of the school featured on his site’s main page and found that the institute (ITT Technical Institute) had been flagged by netizens to be a degree mill.
If characters like Jason Chua are attempting to shape the opinions of future generations, we have plenty to be worried about. Opposition fans may want to look Jason up for a cup of coffee for the slanderous comments he continues to make.
As for the rest, I am still researching on them and hopefully I can write about them soon. Meanwhile, if you think we share a common purpose, do share with me anything interesting at sghallofshame@gmail.com or like me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/sporehallofshame.
